All the buzz recently seems to center around the Bird Flu Pandemic, that officially does and does not exist yet. Presently, the virus is spread between birds, with rare but increasing cases being contracted by humans. (To date: 122 people)
In a nut shell, if this virus mutates and becomes airborne between humans, the prediction is between 200,000 and 2 million deaths resulting from this strain of flu. The H5N1 avian virus (Bird Flu) is being compared by scientists, to the 1918 Spanish Flu, that killed 600 thousand in the United States alone.
As far as what to believe, I have read conflicting yet similar reports. This section from an article entitled:
U.S. Authorities Debate Bird Flu Danger By Mark Martin
CBN News Reporter - Quotes -
"I personally believe it will happen," said Dr. Robert Webster, a virologist at St Jude's Children's Hospital.
Webster is a leading bird flu expert, and he is so convinced there will be an outbreak, that he is storing three months worth of food and water in preparation.
"Society just can't accept the idea that 50 percent of the population could die,” Webster said. “And I think we have to face that possibility."
While researchers acknowledge the seriousness of the threat, some believe his death rate projection of 50 percent is too high. But they agree his fear is warranted.
However, I read this quote about the same person "Robert Webster" from this article entitled:
BIRD FLY? PHOOEY! (I believe this was a misprint and he intended to say Bird "Flu" not fly!)
By Jon Christian Ryter

NewsWithViews.com
" Robert Webster, a research scientist at St. Jude's Children's Hospital who has made a prototype H5N1 vaccine, said. "Maybe this bird flu will never happen, but the country has got to be able to make its own vaccines."
What do we do as Christians?
On one hand the "leading bird flu expert" is so convinced there will be an outbreak, that he is storing three months worth of food and water in preparation.
On the other hand he says "Maybe this bird flu will never happen, but the country has got to be able to make its own vaccines."
Personally, I will probably be stocking up. The least that will happen is I will not have to go shopping every week for a while. I'll really miss those people who block the entire isle at the grocery store with their shopping cart, while looking at cans of soup or talking with their friends, while I wait there or have to go down another isle. (I'm sure you've never experienced that)
What I recommend the most, above stocking up, is being "Prayed up!" What does being prayed up mean? It means "Start now" if you want Gods protection, over you and over your family and loved ones, start doing what is pleasing to God. GOD WILL PROTECT YOU!
Psalms 91:9 - 11 - For you have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. - No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. - For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways.
Psalms 37:3 - 6 - Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
37:4 - Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.
37:5 - Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
37:6 - He will bring forth your righteousness as the light And your judgment as the noonday.
If the worse case scenario should take place, what will the desires of "your" heart be? Surely not the same desires you have today. Your desire would be for you and your family to be exempt from this possible pandemic.

Bush Outlines $7 Million Plan for Possible Flu Pandemic
By Melissa Charbonneau

There is also talk of travel bans and quarantines, in case of a worldwide outbreak. It is all part of a plan the President said will protect the nation from deadly disease, as well as from potential bio- and chemical terrorist attack.
In this type of case it might be a good idea to stock up with food water and necessities. If there were a quarantine or travel ban, it could be difficult to buy food etc.. I recommend above all, being "Prayed Up".
We don't like to think the worst, but the person who dies in a car accident or a sudden heart attack, has no time to ask Gods forgiveness or accept Jesus as their savior. Now is the time to get "prayed up" Start Now! If this pandemic never hits, you will still be blessed and have Gods favor!
God Bless You
